"I Want...." Wednesday #75

This weeks question is:

What do you WANT to grow?

I want to grow tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, zucchini, and maybe corn.

What else do you want this week? Share it all.

I want to finish tweaking the new payroll tech training for next week so that it all goes off without a hitch...we shall see.  Other than that I just want a nice relaxing weekend with hubby.

1. Have you ever broken something in someone's home unknown to them and never told them? If yes, explain.
Hmm...I can't remember it ever happening, but that does not mean it didn't.

Well, if I tell them here they would know...wouldn't they??

Oprah...and she is reading the book of the month on her Kindle...LOL

I really cannot do poetry...rhymes only come out of my by accident....to purposefully try to rhyme with this would never work for me...
5. Do you believe in ghosts or other supernatural activity? Why or why not?
I sure do...saw my Grandpa after he passed on to another life...enough to convince me...

Bonus (optional): How many times have you thought about sex in the last 24 hours? What triggered it? Who did it involve? Provide as much details as you like.
Twice...hubby and I were talking about...no...don't think I'll divulge that here...but thank goodness it was with hubby...LOL

Too Tired to do a Meme

I am way to tired to do a meme tonight.  I need to get to bed so that I can get up and ride the bike in the A.M.

Saturday we had a full day of training with medication training, followed by CPR, then a little more on SIDS, and then 6 hours on Restraint training...I was so tired I slept like a rock.

Then yesterday I was still a bit tired, but I did get things done, not everything, but some things...even went for a mile walk.

So, got up at 4:15a.m. today, rode the bike for 5 miles, did the shower thing, at a quick breakfast and out the door to get the 6:05 train.

Came home real quick tonight to eat half a sandwich, let the dog out and then off to class.  Tonight...sexual predators and sexual abuse...I am dog tired...that is a distressful subject to discuss, it really brings you down...I think all sexual predators, whether they be man or woman need to have both of their hands cut off...and no offer of prosthetics...is is a much crueler crime then taking away their privates....think about...

Well, we got home a little after 9:30p, been home about 30 mins...need to get to bed, but felt the need to blog...

We have four more classes...can't wait...these Monday nights are rough.  Thanks for putting up with my whining...

Saturday Six – Episode 311

1. Have you ever belonged to a Christmas Club savings account? If so, did you actually use that check for Christmas shopping?

No, but I have thought about it.  I am good at thinking about things and never putting them into action.

2. For a few years in a row, you receive a nice tax refund: do you make an adjustment with your payroll deduction so they’ll take less, or do you leave it that way so that you can continue to receive the big check every spring?

I would make an adjustment to my payroll taxes.  I could be earning interest if I would put that extra amount in a mutual fund each pay period instead of letting the government have it temporarily.

3. How likely are you to put such a check towards paying off bills rather than spending it on something for yourself?

I would probably split it, some on bills some for a vacation or something special.

4. Roughly what percentage of the time do you make at least double the minimum payment due to a credit card company?

I don't have credit cards so this is not an issue.

5. Take the quiz: What’s Your Money Personality?

Your Money Personality is Healthy

You have a good relationship with money.
You don't spend wildly, but you're not opposed to treating yourself on occasion.

In general, you save some of what you earn.
You know the importance of a nest egg.

You aren't afraid of being financially literate - you embrace learning more about finances.
From a retirement plan to having an emergency fund, you know what you need to have to be safe.

6. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most stressful, how much stress are your finances causing you right now?

Not a lot, let's say a 5.  I have one large debt I am paying down and will have paid off next year.  The other stuff is minor and should be paid off at the same time.  Then it will be time to put the money away to have our house built without a mortgage.

Friday 5 for March 26: Sleep

How many hours’ sleep do you need in order to be at your best, and what’s the minimum you can get on a regular basis and still be functional?

To be at my best I need 7, but I can survive the week on 5 a night.  But I really, really like that 7.  If I get 7 then I can get up and exercise.  Not been getting 7 very much lately...darn it...need to change that.

What’s your favorite sleeping position?

I have to sleep on my stomach!  I have trouble falling asleep if I am not on my stomach.  They say it is bad to sleep that way...but I can't help it...

What was the cause of your most recent difficulty sleeping?

When my allergies were acting up.  Who can sleep with a runny nose?

When you can’t seem to drift off to sleep right away, what are some things you do to bring about sleep?

I have a white noise app on my Android phone...that helps.  Or I might listen to music.

When did you last doze off at an inappropriate time or in an inappropriate place?

I don't do this.  I am very good at keeping myself awake.  Truthfully the last time it may have happened was in 1998 when I fell asleep at the wheel.  Since then I don't drive and I always make sure I have enough sleep otherwise I don't leave the house for work or anything.

Thursday Thunks

1. I got nothing. What should I ask next week? Although I think Kimber should do it next week. Somehow.

What is a favorite song from the year you graduated from highschool?

2. Wind chimes - annoying or not?

I love wind chimes...I have some glass ones on the back porch...besides the sound I love them because they have a glass piece with a dragonfly design.

3. Camping - camper or tent?

I can do either...I love the rustic feel of the tent...I like to rough it. But I also like to have the comforts of a camper sometimes.

4. Told ya I got nothing. This really sucks. I should have had Bud do this, huh?

Sure, why not...

5. What is your favorite letter of the alphabet?

I guess S...my first name starts with it...and it can be sexy...LOL

6. So this week my kid had to type a research paper for English.... then she had to email it to her teacher! Is that not just the oddest thing ever? Blew my mind away.

LOL, email it to the teacher...too funny...I guess it was just a matter of time.

7. Wow. These questions suck. They suck bad. Do you like to suck through straws? For what type of beverages?

You have to have a straw for a milk shake...can't drink a milk shake without a straw...right?

8. What do you do with your cell phones when you do those wonderful "upgrades" to the newer, fancier phones?

I have given them away, I have recycled, and we still have a couple sitting around here.

I think every tree that exists...and definitely cats, dogs, and birds...which I have one of each...and dust...anyone want a job cleaning my house? lol

10. What did you sleep with as a child?

Nothing...don't recall being allowed to sleep with anything

"I Want...." Wednesday #74

What language do WANT to do, but never seem to have time for?

I really want to learn Spanish fluently and then German. But I have to say...is it that I don't have time for it...or is it that I don't take the time? I would say I don't take the time...I am lazy...that is why I am overweight and still not changing anything knowing this...I keep thinking something in this thick head will click and I will do it...

What else do you want this week? Share it all.

I just want to have a successful payroll and to finish up with the planning for the team building workshop at work. Then Saturday we have our CPR training and other medical type training for preparation for our adoption. You have to do everything that a foster parent would do since you are basically a foster parent until the adoption is final. I will be so glad when the training is completed.

Manic Monday #204

Manic Monday #204

What do you value most in other people?

I value honesty. If I feel someone is truthful with me it is almost like a security blanket. I feel like I can be myself no matter what that brings. I don't have to worry about something I say coming back to haunt me later or about getting my feelings hurt because I opened up and cared and was made a fool of in the end.

If you could only see black and white except for one color, what color would you choose to see?

Probably terracotta...weird, huh? It is because it is a warm color. It is not a favorite color, but it makes me feel warm when I see it. Kinda homey.

You have a 10 minute speech to give at a high school, what is it about?

I would talk about having fun in life. High school kids are always hearing about responsibility and what is right and wrong. And I do believe there is a place in their lives for all of that information, but I would want to tell them about the fun they need to have as an adult and how important it is to always have fun in life. Otherwise they will go on and start their lives, working towards those goals that will mean nothing without the fun in life.

Wonderful Sunday Morning

We have had a great Sunday morning at the Giboney residence.

We are slow risers as a couple. I like to get up early, but I always seem to go back and lay down and talk with hubby and cuddle a bit. Because he is such a slow riser we are horrible at making it to church. It is not that we don't want to go to church, we just don't get ourselves moving in time to get there. So, today we got up and made breakfast together. Once we were done we decided to pull out his bible, the Chicken Soup for the Soul bible and my NIV Serendipity Study Group bible. We looked up a subject in the back of his bible and read the verse in his and mind. I liked his better as it was very plain English, but then mine has great questions to help explore the passage, the message, what it means to you, and what you can do to learn/make changes in your life based on the passage. We both really enjoyed this exercise together and have decided to do it more often.

Now, we are watching a Hallmark movie that we taped last night, Healing Hands, and have plans for later today to work together to clean the house and get our chores done for the week.

Yes, I would say we have had a great start to our Sunday.

Saturday Six – Books Made into Films

I think I am going to go back to mostly doing memes. It kept me blogging and would make me post things I might either not think about or not have shared if not prompted. When I stopped doing memes I stopped blogging as much and I really enjoy it as it does help me to open up in ways I don't always allow myself since I can be pretty guarded with what I share about my life with people.

So, here we go with my first Saturday meme in a very long time.

1. Name your favorite 6 books that have been made into a film that you enjoyed watching?

I think my most favorite would be Ever After, which is based on the Cinderella story. I think the Cinderella story is loved my most girls in hopes that we to may find our prince charming and live happily ever after. Drew Barrymore did a great job in this film. It was fund and romantic.

What Dreams May Come, what a great book and the movie was a good movie in its own right, but I don't believe it delivered with the same effect as the book. I did however really enjoy the movie.

I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the Harry Potter movies. I have not ready any of the books so I cannot compare them.

Conversations with God is another book series I have really enjoyed. I was surprised when it was made into a movie and very interested to see what they would do with it. I did enjoy this a lot and would watch it again.

Angels and Demons was a great book and I thought they did a great job with the movie also. To me it was better even than The Da Vinci Code.

I never read this book either, but the Bridge to Terabithia is one of my favorite movies that I will watch again.

Now, next week they need to ask what books I would love to see made into movies...or what books were made into movies and done badly...LOL

Tuna Burger & Zucchini Salad

Ah, it was a great dinner...sorry, did not take a pic...

Menu: Tuna Burger, Zucchini and Apple Salad and sweet potato fries...yeah, sounds good, huh?

Okay, I rarely eat beef burgers anymore, hell, I rarely eat beef. So, when I want a burger, it is usually a tuna burger, well, since summer of 2008 when I caught an episode of Emeril on Planet Green.

I think I posted this recipe before...but I don't know that I mentioned it was a favorite that has replaced my desire for a beef burger.

I seem to always have sweet potato fries with it, replacing white potatoes that are not as good for you and turn to sugar in the blood stream.

We did however try something new today. I picked up zucchini's with every intention of cooking them as I usually do with onions, tomatoes, and bacon bits. This morning when I was thinking about the dinner meal for the day I just did not want to cook the zucchini and figured there must be a way to fix it into a salad. I did searches and found many options. I decided on a Zucchini and Apple salad. And OMG, it was a great decision. Here is the recipe and the link:

ZUCCHINI AND APPLE SALAD

1/2 c. salad oil
1 tbsp. lemon juice
2 tbsp. white wine vinegar
1 tsp. each sugar and dry basil
About 3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 med.-size red or golden Delicious apples
1/2 med. size red onion, thinly sliced lengthwise
1 green pepper, seeded and cut into matchstick pieces
1 lb. zucchini, thinly sliced

In a salad bowl, combine oil, lemon juice, vinegar, sugar, basil, salt and pepper. Core and dice unpeeled apples and add to dressing; coat apples well with dressing. Add onion, green pepper and zucchini. Stir lightly. Cover and chill.

Just before serving, mix salad again until well combined. Makes 8 servings.
